Happy Halloween 2026

Happy slightly belated Halloween! Hope everyone had some spooky fun! I was home that day, so I decided last minute I should dress up as I hand out candy. I quickly threw together my Super Mario costume from last year and sat outside for a couple hours, reading and handy out candy to trick-or-treaters.

My room was messy so I hastily blurred the background, sorry!

I have to take down the giant skeleton from my yard this weekend, and hopefully I’ll remember that that’s a good day to change out the music on my site’s music player to some less Halloweeny video game tunes!

In addition to the games I mentioned playing for the spooky season, I bounced around a LOT of various games, so I thought I’d mention a few more of them here.

I’m on Observation Duty 8- My wife and I WANTED to play 6, but for some reason it was taking forever to load, and we weren’t too big on 7, so we just went to the latest release from last year. These are the ‘find something out of play in this spooky area’ kinds of games, and I THINK the ones that really made it a famous genre that is still being iterated on today.

Alone in the Dark – I didn’t play this for very long, but I loved just trying it again for a bit. It plays a lot like Resident Evil, but came out a few years before that game, and highly influenced by HP Lovecraft’s writing. I killed a few zombies and explored a few rooms before being killed.

Zombies At My Neighbors – I wish this game was easier, because it is so darn fun that I love it, but I know I’ll never get through it all! Oh well, as long as I don’t sweat that I’ll eventually game over, it’s a blast to just play in quick sessions.

Evil Dead Fistful of Boomstick – This is a PS1 game that plays and looks a lot like Resident Evil, but with a more action slant. I love the atmosphere, you go back to the cabin in the woods and everything, but the quickly respawning enemies get pretty annoying pretty fast!

The Haunting starring Polterguy – I’d never played this game before, not owning a Genesis when I was a kid, and this game is really entertaining. Lots of great pixel art and animation as you possess things around the house to try and scare out the family living there. I will definitely be returning to this one!

I didn’t play my annual Castlevania game this year, which is really surprising as there was a brand new Castlevania game this year! I’ll get to that one eventually, I’m sure. Maybe I’ll try and play through Castlevania 1 again this week, to keep the tradition up, even if it’s a tad late. Hope you all had a good Halloween!
