Super Mariomon Winning Team

I wrote a short while ago about the excellent Super Mariomon, a romhack of Pokemon Emerald that turns the game into a Super Mario adventure where you catch and battle with traditional Mario enemies. Well a few days ago I finally rolled the credits on Super Mariomon! It is a full and complete game, and I believe I clocked in at around 26 hours when I finally beat the champion. I know there’s a good amount of post-game content as well, but I think I’ll be taking a short break from the game before I think about diving back into it. I’m not a completionist in the slightest, but I do kinda want to see what else is in there, just for the fun of it.
Overall the game was great, with only a few points of annoyance, which are just things in Pokemon and RPG games that peeve me in general, such as areas that are puzzles or mazes, and I can’t figure out where to go, and meanwhile I keep getting attacked every few steps. But that happened very little in this game and didn’t sour me on the overall experience.

Much like how I play traditional Pokemon games, I kind of brute forced my way through the game with my few main captures (what they refer to Pokemon as here), and then when I got to the Elite Four, I realized I was woefully underprepared! Three of my six captures were weak against fire, and went down fast. I had to come up with a more diverse team, give them some TMs to give them some powerful moves, and train them up a few more levels. I was playing on my Miyoo Mini Plus, so the grinding part went quickly, as I was able to set the game to 2X speed, making it way more convenient than usually when I grind in Pokemon or Final Fantasy!
Anyway, here is my final winning roster: Petey Piranha (who was my starter as a piranha plant), Yoobi, King Boo, Rhino Dino, Sumo Bro, and Magikoopa!
