Visiting Wall to Wall Sound and Video in 2026!

Anyone that knows me fairly well probably knows I have a passion for physical media, especially when it comes to things like video. I still have all my DVDs and Blu Rays, and while I have a few VHS tapes here and there, I’m sorry to say that I did get rid of most of them a long time ago in an effort to clear up some much needed space (trying to keep things tidy and also wanting to keep physical media sometimes are at odds with each other).

And video stores in particular are something I really love, both as nostalgia (I’ve written posts looking at fake video stores in things like Seinfeld) and in concept. I think video stores are poised for a comeback, and anyone that’s talked to me for any length of time has probably gotten my spiel about how we need to bring back video stores now more than ever, with so many fragmented streaming services these days. It feels like it’d be so much easier to just go to one place and have any video right there.

So I was thrilled to find that there’s a place right near me in New Jersey that’s selling DVDs, blu-rays, and even VHS and laser-disc! It’s Wall to Wall Sound and Video in Franklinville, named after the Wall to Wall of the 80s and 90s. I stopped there over the weekend and couldn’t believe how nice the place was. The place is decorated like it’s a classic video store. There’s plenty of choices to find in every genre. And the prices were extremely reasonable. I ended up browsing far longer than I expected to. Also, the person working the counter was extremely friendly, and the place felt very welcoming.

I ended up taking home a blu-ray copy of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, a blu-ray copy of Captain Marvel, and a VHS copy of a collection of MST3K shorts (with wraparounds hosted by Tom Servo). I have a feeling I’m going to be a very frequent customer here. If there was one thing I wished they had more of, it was kids VHS like cartoons and things. There was a collection of Disney things in clam shell cases, and I even found one Darkwing Duck tape (that I almost took home as well), but I didn’t see a dedicated section for kids, and being a kid back when I was going to these video stores, I really want to see more of the stuff I would browse as a kid, Disney short collections, Loony Tunes, and especially the Muppet videos, which had original Muppet skit wraparounds.

Oh, there was also a locked case by the front that had more rare VHS tapes in it, and one really stuck out to me. A copy of the live-action My Pet Monster direct to video...video. I used to rent that pretty frequently as a kid, being a fan of the toy, and later on the cartoon. Yes, it’s all on YouTube, and yes, I’ve watched it fairly recently, and yes, it is absolutely awful. I didn’t ask how much it was, but I’m still pretty curious, so maybe if it’s there next time I’ll ask.
